AMSTERDAM

So I went to Amsterdam the first week of April. It was such an awesome place!
When I landed I had to take a train to the main station where my hostel was. Well the instructions were not very clear so I ended up going the wrong way and was walking a mile in heels carrying a very heavy suitcase before I realized that I was no near where I needed to be. Well luckily a taxi was near by and I was able to get a ride right up to my hostel. Well by the time I got there I was in desperate need of something to eat. So I went to their little hotel bar and ordered some food and met some other local travelers. The hostel people were so nice because since they knew that I was traveling by myself they introduced me to another girl who was by herself and we hit it off!
While we were sitting there we were introduced to a local named Hans. He was really cool, and showed us around the red light district. Yes, that is where my hostel was located. Well it was a little awkward because Hans liked his Hookers. He ended up showing us who his favorites were and some were actually calling him by his name and asking if he was going to be joining them. It was incredibly awkward but at the same time it is acceptable to do so because sex is so open and welcome there in Amsterdam.
Well after that, I ended up meeting some more people and we all went out for the night, it was about 10 of us total, super awesome people and all just looking to have a good time and get to know people. We went to a few different bars and overall it was a life experience that I will never forget!

The next day I went and met up with Nikki's cousin Luuk. We went out to a nice little cafe and had some dinner and just chatted and then he took me to his local watering hole where we watched the Barcelona, Milan soccer match, and that was exciting because it was a bunch of his friends and the people really got into it!

The next day I went to the hotel that Timo had gotten for me. It was a hotel in Val an Dam. It was a really nice hotel, just in the middle of no where and the view outside my window was some very nice and friendly ghosts. It was kind of funny because I would open my blinds and BAM there would be some ghosts standing there just staring at me. Well when I got there on Wednesday I had become really really sick and could not get out of bed. So I got very comfortable with the bed there for a few days.
Timo came into Amsterdam Friday night and we just hung around the hotel and had dinner and just relaxed. On Saturday we went into Amsterdam and toured around. We did one of those hop on and hop off canal tours! It was super awesome!
Towards the end of our day we went to the Ice Bar where you are given a coat and some gloves, and put into a room completely made of ice, you get 2 free drinks and the cups are made out of ice so it was really awesome. You are there for essentially 45 minutes and have to keep jumping around and moving to stay warm! It was a great experience even though next time I will be wearing better shoes! LOL

On Sunday Timo left and then on Monday I was back home myself. 7 days in Amsterdam is great, but it was a little too long to be by myself for most of the trip! But I enjoyed myself no matter what! :)

Okay, my hands hurt real bad, so then I will write my next 2 blogs maybe tomorrow or Monday. AND I will post up pictures once I figure out how to make photo bucket work without destroying my computer!!

LOVE YOU!
HELLLOOOO!!!

So sorry that it has been awhile, I have been very very busy! I have a lot to talk about so I will be breaking up it up between a bunch of different blogs! :)

Well back in March I went to my first Sauna experience, Nikki had warned me that it was going to be shocking because apparently a lot of people get naked and walk around like it is nothing. WELL it is something.. Something to those who are totally not used to seeing that when you just want to go swimming or just relax.

The place that we went to was a super nice place, there is a movie theater there so if you want to take a break from swimming all you have to do is hop out of the pool and you can walk a few steps and then BAM you are in the movie theater watching Alvin and the Chipmunks in German.
The lower pools are for those people that actually wear swim suits. There is 1 really big pool, a salt pool which is really really good for your skin, and then like 5 different jacuzzi's. The jacuzzi's were different tempatures so that was really nice, and the pools are always warm, so its really nice to just walk in and not have to be freezing right away!

Upstairs is where it gets scary. You walk through this cave like thing and you come up to a set of lockers where people start stripping down in front of you like it is nothing. Well when I see this I turn away, but when I turned I looked down and was hit with seeing a pool full of naked men and women just swimming around like it was nothing. There were 3 or 4 guys just hanging out on a wall naked, smoking, drinking, eating Bratwurst. It was a total culture shock to me. Well when I turned around from that Timo has already started laughing at me because I am a bright red and just have my head in my hands trying to erase those images. But little did I know it was only going to get better.

We go into the area where you can lay down and get tan. You have the choice to wear your swimsuit or be naked, well I chose to wear my swimsuit, there was no way that I was going to strut my stuff in front of a bunch of strangers. The tanning beds are in sort of like indiviual caves, but you can still see if someone is inside from outside, well Timo and I are just walking around looking for an open bed when all of a sudden it goes from empty to.... PENIS EVERYWHERE! I look to my right, PENIS, look to my left, PENIS, just when I thought it was done and I am in histerics, I decide to uncover my eyes and all of a sudden there is the last one and it was horrible. I had to run out of there because I was laughing so hard and LOUD. I was not expecting to see all of that and I was not warned that it was going to be out there!!! Timo thought it was hilarious of course, and I just made a bee line down stairs where they actually wear clothes..
It was the most European experience that I have ever had... Something I will have to get used to I guess..

My week and upcoming adventures!

So, this past week has been really cool! Montag to Frietag (Monday to Friday) was the usual, go to class, take care of the girls! On Tuesday, Talya stayed home because she had the stomach flu. I think she just wanted to stay home just because but that was okay, we just hung out and watched movies and did crafts! On Friday night I went out with Timo's friend Kai's girlfriend, Christina. We hung out at her house and then went to a local bar here in Kelkheim before we went and met up with Timo's soccer time at the club called City Club in Kelkheim. It was a really fun night! Timo's soccer team is absolutely hilarious and they are all super nice! Hanging out with the girls was good too because the more I meet the better! :)
On Saturday I woke up so excited because not only was in St. Patty's day, but it was Mom's birthday, AND I had had my first dream in German! Even though it was mostly just the simple things (bitte-please and endshuldagung-excuse me) I was sooo happy! Well to top off the awesome morning it was soo pretty outside and actually warm for once! So Timo and I decided to take a trip to Frankfurt and go sit by the Main River! Well when we got there, there was this huge street fair thing going on. I was super excited but when we crossed one of the bridges I soon realized that it was just a humongous garage sale! Either way, it was still cool to walk through it all and see what everyone was offering! Well we got some lunch and sat by the river for awhile and then decided it was time to go home to get ready for our St. Pattys day night!
Timo had no idea that St. Patrick's day even existed before I came along and told him about it. I said to him ; "ohh can we please please go to Frankfurt and go to Saxonhausen to go to one of the Irish Pub's there for St. Patrick's day!? It will remind me of home..." So of course he had no choice but to say yes, plus I put on my best puppy dog face and made those really big pleading eyes! Well I told him he had to wear green or else I was going to pinch him, and he looked at me like I was crazy, but I explained what it meant and finally he brought out a green jacket! We went to an Irish Pub, called "The Irish Pub" and they had green beer and food! We got there around 730 and it was not very busy, we left and came back with his friend Sarah around 9 and it was completly packed! It was insane! But so cool because at first I did not think that anyone would dress up in Green especially no Germans, but it turns out that EVERYONE was wearing green, or dressed up like a leprachaun! It was awesome!
After that bar we went to a bar next to the Main River to celebrate Timo's friend Felix's birthday! It was really cool because the whole bar was closed and it was just his friends that were inside drinking and having a great time! We left though around 1 because we were so tired!
On Sunday, it was more of a relaxing day! Timo went to soccer and I was just hanging out at home chilling with the girls. Even though Aimee had caught what Talya had so I tried to steer clear of her as best as possible!

Monday went by with just Aimee staying home, and Tuesday as well. Today (Wednesday) Aimee went to school but I ended up having to go to her school and pick her up because she decided to have her lunch evacuate through her mouth. So now as I write this her and I are just sitting on the couch watching some German cartoon while Talya is outside working on her homework in the sun!

Well onto my upcoming plans!
April 2nd-9th I will be in Amsterdam! Timo is going to be joining me April 6th-8th. My original plan was to stay in a hostel for all of those nights, and then I found out how expensive it would be and decided that I had to find an alternative and that staying in a hostel for all those nights would be my last resort! Well, then Nikki came up with the idea of couchsurfing, it is completely free and you have a place to sleep. The downside is is that essentially you do not know the person you would be staying with except for writing emails to each other. Well, when Timo heard this he about freaked out and said that he did not want me doing that. So he decided that while he is out here he will get a hotel for the both of us. Well then today he informed me that he got a hotel for me from the 4th-9th. I guess he REALLY REALLY did not want me couch surfing! So now I am staying in a hotel by myself for 2 nights until he gets to Amsterdam and then I will stay there another night before I have to leave for the airport on the 9th.

Here is the link to the hotel that I will be staying at so you guys can check it out and everything! :)

As far as the hostel that I will be staying at, that is still up in the air, but I know that it will be a completely safe and awesome one! :) There will be many more pictures to come of my trip!

Thanks for reading! xoxo

It's been awhile...

Allllright!
Sorry that it has been forever since I have written on here. I have had a bunch of busy weeks and it has been hard to find time to write on here. I will do the best that I can to catch up on what I have been doing since the last time you heard from me! :)
So, I had my birthday here which was part of Carnival.. It is basically like this 2 week party where they don't go to work some days and have a huge parade and all the young kids pretty much go out every night. Oh, and the attire when you go out is almost like Halloween, except its not so dark. It is more just really funny costumes and everyone out to have a good time! Well, my birthday was the last day of celebration, so of course it was a big party for everyone and my friends! So apparently here they celebrate INTO your birthday. So a bunch of us went out on the Monday before my birthday(2/20) and we went to a giant hall and just danced and had champagne. Well midnight rolls around and before I know it my friends had bought a bottle of champagne and passed a glass to everyone in our group and toasted to my birthday. It was pretty one of the single most favorite moments in my life. It just totally blew my mind how these people had not even known that I had existed 2 months prior to this night and they were treating me as if I had been in their group of friends for years! I loved it! :)
Well not long after midnight I decided it was time to go home because I was overly exhausted and just wanted to be in my own bed. So Timo got me home safe and sound! :) For those of your wondering who Timo is, I am just going to stop all the guessing, he is my boyfriend here and is such a great guy! We were introduced around the beginning of February from a mutual friend and we just hit it off and slowly things progressed into something substantial. I was not really looking for a relationship, but he is a super good guy and makes me really happy so I could not pass it up!
Well for my present from Timo he took me to a city about 2 hours away from Kelkheim called Cologne. It is such a beautiful old city. When we first arrived there was a huge protest going on, my host father told me it was about some recent murders that have been going on to foreigners.. Do not worry there are no murders going on around this area of Germany. He said that it is mostly in East Germany. Well they were protesting that, and that was kind of cool to see because there were so many people on the street and loud music and just crazy crazy people!
When we checked into our hotel we immediately walked to the main shopping center, which you HAVE TO (oh no....) walk through in order to get to the main cathedral and the chocolate factory! We got to the cathedral, which is called "The Dome" and it is sooo massive! It was insane! Something that I was not expecting to see. From far away it does not look that big, and then you get up close and it is totally insane! We went inside and it was breathtaking.. Everything was just so beautiful! I have many pictures that I will post up for everyone to see!
Well after that we went to the Chocolate Factory! This was Timo's favorite part of the whole trip.. part of me thinks that he just used my birthday as excuse to go to the chocolate factory! ;) No, but it was totally cool! They gave you the history of Chocolate and even had a green room that shows you how hott and humid the weather is that the coco bean has to grow in.. We literally walked through that one so fast.. It was sooo hot!! LOL! Timo was sooo excited to be there that there was one point where he saw a chocolate fountain, and I kid you not, he was in front of me one minute and then the next he was running to the chocolate fountain. He was greatly disappointed though once he realized that you were only given one sample.. Needless to say he wanted to go and get some more but was unable to do so...
We then went out in Cologne and it was really cool. It is nice because all the clubs and bars here cater to the fact that they don't want people to drink and drive because everything is really close together and there are cabs around EVERYWHERE!
Well after my weekend in Cologne it was time to buckle down and study because I had a very important Visa test on Friday. Basically this test determined if I had to go out of the country for a weekend and get a new stamp, or if I had to wait until May to take the test again. So I literally had to study soo much German and have a basic grasp on my German, which I do! :) Needless to say, all the studying and staying in and being a good student paid off and I had passed my test and now everything is finally set in motion! Well after I passed my test on Friday, I was set for a great weekend! I was going out with Timo and some other friends to a bar/restaurant in Frankfurt, and then Saturday I was babysitting and then on Sunday I was going to another Soccer game here! The teams name is Eintracht Frankfurt, and once again they won! :) Of course they won when I had left to go to the restroom and then as soon as I came back they scored so the joke the rest of the game was "Emily, go to the bathroom, we need to score again!" LOL Well, they still won even though I did not leave again to go to the restroom!

Well now that I have caught everyone up to pretty much with all the main stuff that is going on in my life I will now put up some pictures for you all! :)

pictures of futbol game!

These are just some photos from the game on Sunday. I have 2 videos as well that I am just trying to figure out how to get them so they can play on here! If you have any ideas feel free to help me!! :)

Another day

00o kay! So things have been pretty hectic since I have not been able to really write in here about updates or anything!
So last week was pretty normal, I went to dinner at my friend Christoph's house Thursday and watched Step Brothers in German, and it was pretty funny even in a language I don't understand quite yet, mostly because I pretty much know all the lines and everything. :) After that I came home and went to sleep because I knew that the weekend was going to be a long one. Miri and I had plans pretty much both nights to go out for either a birthday party, or a dinner or some sort! Friday I woke up and it was starting to get colder, much, much colder then what I was prepared for! So I pretty much stayed inside all day and tried to stay warm so I don't get sick.
Friday night though, I went over to Miri's house to hang out a little bit before we went out to dinner with two of her friends (Robert and Timo) at a local pizza place here in Kelkheim. The food was absolutely delicious and the company was awesome as well! After that when we walked out of the restaurant it had started to snow slightly and we all had decided to drive over to Robert's house. I was thinking it was like a 10 minute drive, no it was more like 10 seconds. No one wanted to walk because it was so cold and honestly I do not blame them because it was freezing even just standing outside waiting to get the front door open.
When we got to the house we just hung out and played Wii Tennis for a little and then Miri decided that she wanted to go to the birthday party and I wanted to go out for a little so we promised to meet up later! I ended up going to a club with Timo and Robert and another one of their friends which was a lot of fun. It was in this wearhouse thing that had two huge rooms that played different types of music! A lot of fun, but we ended up leaving not long after we got there. The boys took me to the house where Miri was for the birthday party because apparently the birthday boy wanted to see "the California beauty" and we all just hung out there for the rest of the night!
On Saturday I was not feeling so well, so thinking I was going to be able to relax I pretty much just hung around the house all day and vegged out. Well I got a call that we were going bowling at like 9pm. Not thinking that Saturday night is prime night to go bowling, especially around that time too. We went to 2 different bowling and all them were fully packed, so the 4 of us all just went home and hung out. I ended up leaving early because I was very tired and still not feeling 100% and had a nice evening in my nice warm bed!
Come to Sunday, pretty much the most exciting day of my week. I got picked up by Timo and a few of his other friends and we went to go see a Futbol match! I had been dying to go see a European futbol match mostly because they are into the sport so much more and that it just makes the game that more enjoyable! Well I was told to dress warm because by Sunday the tempature had dropped dramatically and it was freezing outside. I kid you not I was wearing at least 5 layers of socks, 4 layers of pants, 3 long sleeve shirts and my toes still went numb. Well one of the things that is important at these games is to drink warm Apple Wine, it keeps you warm and it tastes delicious! Well after we waited in line for what felt for forever and after I got patted down by security we were finally able to get our first glass of Apple Wine, and able to sit down.
I was soooooo not prepared for what I was in store for. There were explosions going off randomly, and they had those red hazard lights that cops use of the freeway when there has been an accident to steer traffic away. There was non stop drums being played and chanting and jumping and yelling! It was by far the coolest thing I have seen in Germany yet and I cannot wait to go to another match! The teams were Frankfurt and B' Schweitz, I believe that is how it is spelled.. It does not even matter though because they lost! When I learn my first chant I will be sure to write it on here, or even try and sing it on here so you can see how awesome it is! After that day and my weekend of Germany awesomness, I was soo tired.
I had passed out by 730pm, and unfortunately because my body was not used to this, it decided to wake up at 2m and not fall back asleep until about 545am. Mind you, I wake up at 6am every morning to get the girls up and ready for school. They are barely awake so imagine how hard it is when someone that is watching them is barely awake as well and trying to function. Needless to say the morning was very slow for me as was the rest of the day. Yesterday though was the first day of my German class in Hoffeim! Very very exciting but also very nerve wrecking! My friend Hannes had given me a ride there (thank you) and when I got there it was still early, so I went across the street to the mall and walked around a little bit before class started.
When it was finally time to start I sat down in one of the desks and then all of a sudden this Italian guy walks in and sees me and of course sits right next to me. We started talking and turns out he has been in Germany for a year and promised to help me with my German if I help him with his English. Well when class started I was once again not prepared for this.  IT IS ALL IN GERMAN. THERE IS NO ENGLISH ALLOWED. When I even tried asking her a question in English she shut me up right away and asked me to ask in German. Luckily the Itlaian guy next to me knew what was up so he helped me out. But pretty much I left the class feeling that this was not going to be as easy as I thought it was and that I would totally need to do more studying then I thought as well. Luckily for me I have a great support team here that are all eager to help me and teach me new words and phrases! So I think it will be pretty amazing when the 15 weeks are over and I can at least maybe hold an elementary school conversation!
Tuesday I thought that I would be able to go and get my books in the morning after dropping Aimee off at school, well when we were getting to ready to go the mother from next door came over and said that she was driving everyone because it was -16c outside and she did not want us walking in that weather! Thank you LORD! I hopped in the car and drove with her to drop all of the kids off, when we got to Aimee's school I went with Aimee and the mother went off to work! Well usually I get to Aimee's school around 845, well I got there at 8am dropped her off and walked into town and EVERYTHING was closed. So I thought, okay, I will just go with Talya when she gets out of school, have a nice time with ordering my books, maybe go look at some shoes and have a nice lunch. NOPE! As soon as we walk to the bus stop and start waiting it start to drizzle snow. And I am thinking, ok maybe it will just be really quick. No way. It started to almost down pour when we were in the bus. Finally we get to the bookstore and I realize that they are closed until 3. Well, it was 130 and snowing and Talya was freezing and so was I. So we decided to go and check when the next bus came and it was going to be about an hour. Went to a local thrift shop, got her a hot chocolate and hung out for an hour. I felt so bad for that girl because she was freezing and so was I and there was no way to really warm her up.
We got the bus stop and she started saying how her face was cold and so I did what always works for me! I put one of my hands over her mouth and had her start breathing because her warm breath would at least warm up her nose and mouth. Well after about 10 seconds of doing this I look down and realize what it looks like.. Basically that I am covering this little girls mouth so she will shut up. Or just that I am asking her to sniff my glove that is laced with Chloroform. It just looked really bad, but when I would take my hand away from her mouth she would start getting upset because she was so cold. So I got to stand there for about 10 minutes looking like I was kidnapping this child, or that I was just getting her to shut up. Finally we get on the bus and go home and warm up. It has not stopped snowing since and is about 840 right now. Should wake up to a nice blanket of beautiful German freezing cold snow! :)

Hope you all enjoyed reading! I will try and update more often so it is not an essay that you are reading every time! :)

Ciao!
